Mayor of Balikpapan Rahmad Mas’ud Receives President of DMDI, Introduces Balikpapan and IKN

BALIKPAPAN, Inibalikpapan.com – Mayor of Balikpapan, H. Rahmad Mas’ud, alongside the Secretary of East Kalimantan Province, Sri Wahyuni, welcomed the arrival of the President of the World Malay World Islam (DMDI), Tun Seri Setia H. M. Ali Rustam to the city of Balikpapan on Sunday (31/3/2024) morning.

The delegation of 15 individuals arrived in Balikpapan around 09:00 WITA through the VIP Airport Sepinggan Balikpapan. President DMDI was also accompanied by the Chairman of DMDI Indonesia, H. Said Aldi Al Idrus.

After engaging in warm discussions regarding the general situation of Balikpapan, including the development of IKN, the 15-member delegation, along with the mayor of Balikpapan, proceeded towards IKN via the sea route. Accompanying the mayor were the Assistant for Government Affairs, Zulkifli, and the Acting Head of the Communication and Information Office, Rosdiana. Also present were the Former Head of the Ministry of Religious Affairs in Balikpapan, Johan Marpaung, and the Chairman of PHRI Balikpapan, Sugianto.

Visit to IKN

The DMDI delegation used the sea route from Semayang port with two vessels. The journey to IKN was estimated to take 15-20 minutes. En route, the delegation also enjoyed the view of Balikpapan Bay, including the Balang Island Bridge. Subsequently, the vessels docked at the ITCI Port. The DMDI officials then continued their journey by land to IKN.

Following the visit to IKN, the inauguration of DMDI Indonesia members will be held at the Balikpapan City Hall Auditorium on Sunday (31/3) afternoon. The Mayor of Balikpapan will join the ranks of DMDI and participate in the inauguration by the President of DMDI.

The DMDI Indonesia officials for the 2023-2026 period were inaugurated at the Borobudur Hotel, Jakarta, in September 2023. The Chairman of DMDI Indonesia, Said Aldi Al Idrus, and the Secretary-General, Anizar Masyhadi, along with Commissioner General Pol. (Ret.) Syafruddin as the Chairman of the Advisory Board of DMDI Indonesia for the 2023-2026 period. Former Deputy Chief of Police Commissioner General (Ret.) Syafruddin also serves as the vice president of the organization.

The inauguration of the DMDI Indonesia officials was attended by Tun Seri Setia H. M. Ali Rustam, the President of DMDI, along with regional officials of DMDI Indonesia and several officials from various countries.

DMDI is an institution with a vision and mission to unite the Malay community scattered throughout the world. Established in 2000 in Malacca, Malaysia, it initially consisted of 10 countries but has now expanded to 29 countries. (andi aa)
